Privacy & your data

Your animals' records are yours.

No ads, no data selling

MyGroom doesn't run advertising and doesn't sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. There is no third-party ad tracking in the app.

What's stored

The things you enter: your animals and their care records, feeds, medications, weights, documents, costs, competition results and posts, plus your account details — display name, username and email. Rug and walk advice uses your general location for a weather forecast.

How we protect your data

Every record in MyGroom is locked to your account at the database level. That's not just a promise — it's a database rule that makes it structurally impossible for the app to fetch someone else's animals, care records or photos, even by accident. We also run production error monitoring, so issues get caught and fixed quickly rather than turning up in a bad review.

Sharing is yours to choose

Nothing about an animal is visible to anyone else by default. Household access, per-animal share links and posting to the friends feed are each a separate, explicit action you take — and share links expire. Household access is for the people who live the day-to-day (a partner, a co-owner) and see everything; a share link is for a one-off situation (a friend feeding the horse for a week) and only ever shows that one animal, for a limited time.

Our age policy

Signing up requires confirming you're 13 or over — aligned with the UK's own threshold for a minor's own data-processing consent under GDPR, not an arbitrary number we picked.

Leaving

You can delete your account from inside the app. There's a 30-day grace period in case you change your mind, then your data is removed. You can also change your email or sign out on any device from your profile.
